Technical Capabilities
At Microtek Laboratories, Inc., we specialize in industrial uses for microencapsulation processes and microencapsulated materials. Our proprietary procedures include: controlled release, timed release, temperature release, mechanical rupture, chemical release, or permanent encapsulation capabilities.
We are skilled at selecting and applying a variety of encapsulation
processes and methods. These systems include coacervation, polymer-polymer
phase separation, interfacial and dispersion polymerization, in
situ polymerization, solvent phase separation, desolvation, and
various hybrid systems. Various capsule shell materials may be
utilized in our processes including gelatin, polyvinyl alcohol,
urea and melamine formaldehyde polymers, acrylics, urethanes, and vinyl
acetate copolymers.
We are experienced at microencapsulating oily and solvent soluble
materials as well as water-soluble materials and aqueous solutions.
The microencapsulated product can be delivered as a dry, free-flowing
powder, as a slurry, or in the form of a wet filter cake.
Particle sizes can range from less than one micron to over 1,000
microns or greater.
