Paint & Coating Additives

We have worked with encapsulating paint and coatings for various applications, such as imaging paper coatings and damage impact indicating inks. In addition, we have experience microencapsulating time-released agents for coatings and paints such as biocides for marine paints. These microcapsules release chemicals during a specified period of time for corrosion control and extended protection. For example, a special paint may be needed to retard damage to steel objects which are constantly submerged in water, or continually exposed to inclement weather conditions. Microtek will work with your company in order to develop and produce your coatings and paints to fit your specific requirements. Please call us and/or go to our “Technical Capabilities” page for more information.

BIOCIDES FOR PAINT ADDITIVES
In 2002, an International treaty was signed banning the application of paint containing tin on all ships beginning January 2003 and the complete prohibition of the presence of organotin on all ships by January 2008.

Microtek is working to develop an alternative biocide that provides for time-release of an anti-foulant agent which contains no tin or copper. The same technology can be applied to other types of coatings for anti-corrosive purposes.

Please call us with your application needs.
