ELECTROLUMINESCENT PHOSPHORS
It is well-known in the industry that many phosphor pigments are unstable because they are sensitive to moisture. Microencapsulating these phosphors gives it an inert coating to serve as a protective barrier against the environment or to aide in light enhancement. Electroluminescent (EL) phosphors are used to illuminate several products, such as:

  • Automotive backlighting
  • Exit signs
  • Cockpit lighting
  • Night vision apparatus
  • Watches
  • CRT Phosphors
  • Flat panel back lighting
  • Glow in the dark products

DYES AND COLORANTS
Microtek manufactures a microencapsulated leuco dye ink for a specialty graphic arts application. We also have experience in microencapsulating various other dyes, pigments and colorant materials for many diverse applications such as determining pressure forces in extruders.

COLOR INDICATING SYSTEMS
Thermochromic, photochromic, and glow-in-the-dark materials are microencapsulated for producing various imaging and temperature indicating systems. These products have many applications such as recording change of temperatures on food and beverage containers to producing tee shirt transfers that change color depending on temperature or level of sunlight . Other applications could be used in manufacturing processes to record temperatures at specified time intervals.
